Disruptive Innovation is Finally Here

The Elemental Motor is a departure from conventional magnetics. It’s gone back to basic physics, then over a decade, re-evolved in successive topologies to produce far higher torque densities and a smaller, lighter, simpler, low-cost, and refined high-performance motor. It is particularly well suited to applications requiring high continuous torque where, historically, gear reduction has been required.

Motors have long been considered to be well understood. Critical insights and improvements have been made. However, modern motors are essentially improvements to the same motor Nikola Tesla brilliantly invented around 1887.

The Elemental Motor is different in several critical ways:

  1. It uses 3-dimensional flux flow to fold high shear area into a smaller space with a high average diameter, emulating a larger and heavier motor.

  2. It concentrates the field of high energy magnets into even higher field levels to develop higher shear.

  3. The Elemental motor then uses a concept known as Transverse Flux to reduce electrical resistance to as little as 1/100th.

These and many other smaller developments have led to a motor with performance so differentiated as to evoke disbelief from experienced motor designers.

DAVID CALLEY

Founder & CEO

David Calley, the inventor and CEO of Elemental Motors, has worked internationally on sustainability. Prior to creating The Elemental Motor, his technical areas include wind turbine design, solar, electric vehicles, electric flight, prosthetic limb and disabled person vehicles, truck aerodynamics, and of course electric motor design and manufacturing. He currently is the CEO for Planet Rider, LLC where he oversees the development of a human powered, electric vehicle, and heads the team on electric motor design and manufacturing as the CEO at Elemental Motors.
